"Old Glory" Operation Song by the Library of Congress Veterans History Project

Nov. 10, 2020

Fans, this is a must watch.
This past summer, the Library of Congress Veterans History Project contacted WI native Kim Mitchell, a Navy veteran, Old Glory Honor Flight alum and ambassador on our Yellow Ribbon Honor Flight, to see if she would be interested in working with a singer songwriter from Nashville to write a song about her inspirational story. Kim was matched up with Cindy Morgan, an accomplished singer, songwriter and author.
While they were talking, Cindy asked Kim who inspired her to live a life of service and Kim told her that it’s the Vietnam Veterans who are her inspiration because they saved her life when she was a newborn in Vietnam. Kim told her about our annual Yellow Ribbon Honor Flight, shared her profound experience and from that discussion, the song “Old Glory” was written. “Old Glory” is written in honor and thanks to all Vietnam Veterans for their service, honor and sacrifice.
We are so proud of Kim and the work she does with veterans around the country. She is an inspiration and we hope to see her for next year’s Yellow Ribbon Honor Flight.
