OUTAGAMIE COUNTY, Wis. (WBAY) - Appleton International Airport has presented a check for $75,000 to Old Glory Honor Flight.

The money was raised during the airport's Pull for Honor event in September.

The airport says the money will fund an honor flight to Washington, D.C., for 90 veterans and their guardians.

Old Glory Honor Flight's mission is to take Wisconsin's veterans to Washington to see the war memorials. The organization has taken more than 3,900 veterans to our nation's capital.

"We are just really thrilled to support Old Glory Honor Flight network. For us to be able to raise $75,000 is just incredible," airport director Abe Weber said.

"The importance of the donation is what keeps these flights in the air," Old Glory Honor Flight vice president Lorraine VanKampen said. "Without the donations that we receive for Old Glory Honor Flight, we could not continue to fly the veterans to Washington, DC, to give them their tour of honor."

"We at Old Glory Honor Flight are humbled by our longstanding partnership with Appleton International Airport and this incredibly successful event exemplifies the passion that our combined teams have for veteran and military causes," Diane MacDonald, Old Glory Honor Flight treasurer, said.

The airport plans to hold another Pulling for Honor fundraiser in 2018.
